This Friday SJBP is throwing a bicycle luau through the fair streets of San Jose and the South Bay. Get ready to be lei’d and bring your best beachwear while we celebrate bikes Hawaiian style.
Be safe, legal, and courteous (see How We Ride!). Or be prepared for a ticket from the 5-O. We share the road with other traffic. Helping cars move through smoothly makes the ride more enjoyable for everyone. Do your part to encourage good behavior! Also, please remember to turn down the volume when riding through residential areas late at night.
Information on the route and more after the drop …
BIRDs
BIRDs are our wonderful volunteers that attempt to keep everyone on our rides safe. Please be respectful of their directions and thank them for all of the effort they put into the ride. If you want to help out and make your mark on Bike Party, please join the BIRDs at the volunteer cicle prior to the start of the ride.
Ravens
Ravens are the elite group of BIRDs that make sure we leave no trace behind by cleaning up after the party at regroups. They are essential to keeping the party going and they can’t do it by themselves. When you see any of them with a trashbag collecting your trash, please thank them! They are a really cool bunch. Please bring trash bags and help us leave no trace.
How We Ride
If you follow these simple rules, Bike Party will be safe and a positive place for riders, drivers, pedestrians, and our community.
- Stop at lights
- Stay to the right
- Pack your Trash
- Roll Past Conflict
- Ride Sober
- Be nice

Feeder rides
Feeder rides are a great way to get to Bike Party They allow you to make great friends and get to know people who live near you. They also make it super easy to get back home as a group as most folks ride home with the group they arrived with. You save the planet and save on parking while getting a little bit more exercise. It’s all good.

Please don’t bring your gas powered bike to this ride.
If you see/hear/smell a gas powered bike, please boo them.
If you hear people booing a gas powered bike, please join in booing them.
Shake your fist at them.
Stare them down.
Consider starting a chant like ‘Occupy’ does.
Two stroke go home!

It’s Bike Party Friday my bicycling brethren!
Get on your road ready bicycle, and get with the hippest and coolest crowd at the greatest party on wheels in America today; that is, your San Jose Bike Party.
We are so fortunate here in the South Bay, to have such: great weather, an awesome and progressive bicycling friendly community — that is so accommodating — that it allows this Bike Party Movement to thrive.
Let’s endeavor to keep Bike Party safe by following:(see How We Ride!). The uber-busy summer Bike Party season has been a welcome success, so, let’s keep it that way my bicycling brethren.
Please be aware that Bike Party is a “family friendly event”, so be extremely proper — be on the lookout for — families with toddlers in tow.
Whether you are a veteran or, a “first-timer-newbie”, you own a piece of Bike Party, so respect the ride, and be responsible. I urge you to avoid the few “anarchists and scofflaws” who show up just to run their ol’ tired and disruptive schemes
Just listen to the BIRDs and follow: (see How We Ride!). and you will be perfectly okay. Bike Party is not a race, so “slow down” and let the “wild folks” go. Hang back with the grand majority of bicyclists who are out to enjoy the unique Bike Party Experience — ’cause if you go too fast you will miss most of the fun.
PEACE and Bike Party together… forever.

Ok for all of you that drink in the ride. That place that the cops take you when they take you to jail. That place or you can go to 880 exit on first street. Go right if you are going north left if you are going south. Now this is easy. Just look to your left and you will see everyone there can’t miss the parking lot

Hi Bike Party, if everything goes right tonight will be my first time attending. I see you pass by my work (7 Bamboo) all the time.
I’ve made a speaker trailer for my bike.
https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/542506_10150980139175216_750720178_n.jpg
It’s powered by 36 4500mAh LiPo cells. Speaker is a QSC-K10, 1000w. Tonight I’m just going to be testing the system by just playing progressive house and Diljit, but in the future I’m thinking of bringing karaoke to the bike party.

Mother Nature is so copacetic with SJ Bike Party that She arranged a perfect evening for bicycling.
Most of us are suffering from Bike Party anticipation.
We can’t wait to be out with: the uber-friendly bicycling crowd, enjoying the great music mixes, bedazzled by the unlimited parade of all types and sizes of bicycles, and deciding among the great variety of food.
It all combine to create a huge positive vibe that makes SJ Bike Party the best thing to ever happen to the South Bay.
Let’s get out there my bicycling brethren, and have a very safe, and summer-fun-filled Bike Party.
- We need you to STAY SAFE, so you can post your impressions and opinions of tonight’s ride — beginning tomorrow — if you are motivated, and inclined to do so.
BIKE PARTY FOREVER!!!

I really wish that you guys would pick a different route. Every single time you come down Lafayette in Santa Clara no one obeys the “rules” that you suggest. I can hear boom boxes (usually playing bad hip hop) and screams for what feel like a good 30-60 minutes. No one adheres to the “right lane” rule, and even when the SCPD drives by, it lasts for about 30 seconds and then the entire road is blocked again.
I think that you have a great concept, but it really does disrupt traffic and neighborhoods at night, which can be unsafe for drivers that really don’t want to deal with the delay.
Lina P.
August 19, 2012
You can honestly go from anywhere – just join in when you see the crowd. Make it simple
And if you’re late just meet up at the meeting points.
Lina P.
August 19, 2012
Yes it would be nice for all the riders to obey and stay to the left and of course let the cars pass. I definitely would like to see the bike party continue for years to come. Other than that people are very friendly at these events. It’s just the very few that’s not obeying the courtesy rules.
