The only issue i have ever had on a bike was when i was riding through some trees and my helmet caught a branch and nearly snapped my neck. Knock on wood i never fall and hit my head, but its not Darwin at its best to choose NOT to ride with a helmet. Its a choice. There are a lot of ways to get injured and die from things that, in hindsight, we can all say it was Darwin at its best. Helmets, i believe, do more good than harm for people. It could one day save my life. But staying indoors and never leaving the house could kill you just as easy as taking some chances outside in the real world.

I couldn't agree with you more.. Its an awesome relaxing ride. You feel a sense of protection, and what makes one aspect of it awesome, is that you can ride on some of the most dangerous streets in San Jose without any fear of getting run over by some idiot.

Calling the police really infuriates them.

By the time they come over to your residence you are most likely asleep and the -rolling- Bike Party is already gone. Good waste of public resources there just to feel an ounce of empowerment in your spectral life of single mindedness.

And just let you in on a little secret - the route changes every month - If you experience a ride right in your front door... it will most likely be a bi-annual event at best, for the entire year.

Whats hilarious is you most likely spent more time searching for this page than however long the ride was a distraction to you. You should come to grips with those anger management issues ;)

I follow the rules and respect BP's safety policy both while at the function and when I'm out and about. No where does it say a helmet is required by participants over 18 and if it did I wouldn't ride in it. Maybe your friend should have taken a closer look at the rules and not gotten so wasted that he fell over backwards. Unless he/she is a two year old on training wheels, they don't get a pass. It appears you do let your friends ride drunk which in a group ride like this creates a safety issue for everybody.
