Bike Party’s monthly volunteer meetings are where it all happens, and where we need YOU to step up to make it even better. Routes get planned and arranged on amazing test rides, but every other part of this unbelievable phenomenon is planned and discussed at meetings – fun ones, at that, full of wonderful bike people!
This month’s meeting is Wednesday, January 6th at 6:45pm at the centrally-located Sophisto Society!
Bike Partier Tim will teach us how to make affordable small sound systems that can go on ANY bike (no trailer needed!) with painless non-technical set-up!
We’ll discuss how to plan “bonus” rides and other events and we’ll get updates on bike events and news around the valley.

What are your New Years Resolutions? Smaller hills than the first ride?
- TIME: Sat, Jan 9th, 11:00am – 3:00pm
- ROUTE: East SJ and Evergreen areas of SJ
- Start (changed): Lee Mathson M.S, 2050 Kammerer Ave (visible from Hwy 680 West, just east of Hwy 101)
- End: dt SJ
We’ll see, we “might” even investigate starting in two places. But we will still focus on the east side.
OUR Test Rides’ New Years Resolutions? To have many more riders step up and OWN the ride — the test rides process… and during the main rides: the start, during the ride, at key turns and in and out of the regroups!
Even if you don’t have Facebook, the overall information is there.

Wear your scarfs this month!
Test Rides are a way that we prepare the SJBP route & train volunteers for the main ride. We need many more volunteers & we need these tasks (listed below) performed for both the Test Rides and the main ride. Your help is appreciated. For those that get up early on a Saturday, or want to catch a ride en route this ride’s for you… next Saturday, Dec. 12th, 10:00am-1:45pm
1. help market via FB, SJBP page,etc
2. send out info on FB (direct messages only)
3. print out guest list (2 per ride)
4. make & format documents – “Turn by Turn Directions”
5. create route & site captain sheets on google docs
6. recruit friends to join the test rides – or volunteer
7. lead a test route, ensure pace is good, regroups brief

Update: This ride was more like and experimental “pre-ride#1″ so THANKS for working with it and your immediate feedback earlier esp. with the “options.” Apologies for going too long on time. We will need to start as close to 9pm as possible obviously and would ask for your help in that regard. We are already making some route changes. Please add you comments here ASAP as we want to finalize the route and turn by turn directions ASAP.
*** We are going to need volunteers on this ride at 3-5 key points!!!

Help plan the route for the next Bike Party!
Pre-Ride #1 for July’s Ride at ~7:00-7:15 pm start time this Thursday evening, June 25th, starting at Dick’s parking lot.
Looking for 8-10+ riders and 1-2 ”virtual riders that can help us via PC and MapMyRide in real time if needed. The pace will not be dramatically faster than the usual SJBP, but will be decided upon by the group. The ride may go off the pre-set route in an attempt to fine tune the ride.
Justin and crew will be leading this Thursday’s pre-ride again.

Join us for the planning meeting at Orchard Valley Coffee in Campbell (349 E Campbell Ave)
We discuss route planning, themes, how to make the ride better/safer, and other fun events.
We request that all attendees have rode at least 2 rides before attending a meeting. (We want you to have educated and constructive input for future rides)
Bike party is organized by a handful of unpaid, working during our free time, bicycle loving volunteers. The more people who help with ride planning, the better the ride will become.
