Last month we had a great meeting where people gave ideas, split up into groups to find solutions to problems, and gave great creative input to make San Jose Bike Party the huge amazing event that it has become.
This month, we are following up on all those creative ideas and making them happen!!
All riders who have attended at least 2 rides are invited to attend the meeting. We need and appreciate your input!!
Please come with an “I will” attitude, not a “you guys should” attitude. All SJ Bike Party planners are volunteers who participate because because we love bicycles and people. However, we can’t do everything. (If we could, we would take over this city!)
The event will take place:
Wednesday, September 16th from 7-8:30PM
King of Campus printing (thanks to Sulaiman for offering this venue!)
1177 W. San Carlos St
San Jose, CA 95126

These are a lot of fun and I encourage anyone who wants to go on fun bike ride a positive group of riders to join us. You don’t need to be super fast and covered with spandex to attend. Tons of different types of bikes and styles of riding come, just don’t forget your lights!

last nights test ride was splendid; while there was no ocean breeze, the night fooled us riders into believing we were merely a half mile off coast, under a cloudless night, and surrounded by smiles and friendly waves from the public.
it was first time on any sjbp rides, and i am hooked. amongst positive people looking out for one another, 20 something miles is nothing but pleasure.
so yeah, thanks bike party and i will see you on the 18th!

Any observations overall about the ride last night?
How were the signal strengths/quality of the two stations? Please do NOT include any route information as this must remain confidential until 24hrs ahead of the Sept SJBP. Thank you

This route looks fantastic! I had a lot of fun on the pre-ride and would have to conclude that it was my favorite pre-ride to date.
Also, to everyone who rode last night: I was priviledged to be among such wonderful company. Thanks for an awesome evening.

Last night was a blast, had a great time, some lights toward the end were very short and hard to get to go green(after the last over pass and then a left) I am sure we will figure it out, near moffet field we will need to hit the walk button, all in all it was great. Looking forward to the 12th. Come on out all you people…we get 3000 plus on the third friday…at least we could get a couple hundred on these pre-rides…come on people get out and ride these pre-rides…

The Pre-ride was great. It looks like it will work real well for the 18th. Eric your right some of the lights are a little slow at turning green and also real fast at turning red. Over all it was a great ride. You all are a lot of fun to ride and talk with. Thanks for keeping the SJBP alive. I look forward to seeing you all Saturday the 12th and the 18th.

Anyone have any feedback on Cupertino’s KKUP 91.5 FM & Stanford University’s KZSU 90.1 FM’s signal strength from the evening test ride?
Anyone have contacts in one or more cities? Esp the depts that handle traffic lights? Many traffic signals on our pre-ride were not bike friendly. ;-(

No contacts with cities but we can have someone push the walk buttons for the straight through lights … that will help some….
the left turns are more problematic… i guess we could ask if the police would control the intersections for us…

Thanks “Wuss912″ but imho I’d hope the cities can address bike unfriendly intersections – this will help the everyday rider. This is key to what we should all want to help with… the every day rider!
Re: Police – I think we need to police ourselves, lets help each other out instead.
Looking forward to next Saturday’s Pre-Ride!

Fair enough…. Though all of the lights i saw / remember were long enough that i’ve ridden through them mutiple times … it only gets tricky when you have 1,000′s of riders trying to get through. I’m not sure how one would justify a long term light timing change on that basis…
as far as the police go … i was just saying…..

There needs to be more stops!! It’s had to regroup w/ friends if there’s only 2 stops, maybe 3 or 4.

3 stops would be cool nemo, love longer rides. hard to regroup? yea, can be hard to find even w/ cell phones among 500 riders, but w/ 3k+riders can be a bitch, lol.
