So how family friendly are these events? or is the really only an excuse to drink?
I think Bike Party can be family-friendly if you want it to be. I wouldn’t recommend it for very young children without precaution just because it’s slow, late at night, and often cold. Aside from that, it’s analogous to an outdoor rock concert – there always seem to be people doing things I don’t approve of, but in general folks are considerate enough not to put it in your face. I’ve seen a reasonably wide variety of ages thus far and expect to see the party keep growing in both size and diversity. This is just my opinion, so come try it out for yourself!
is there a planned route already? Maybe i missed something on the website but i couldn’t seem to find anything.
good question…i believe the plan is in the works, i’m not sure if it’s finished. a route should be posted here soon. comments/suggestions are always welcome, of course. i think the discussion was to keep the next ride a bit shorter like we did last month (i.e. ~12mi) and to make a pass through Santana Row, since it’s been a while since our last visit. : )
I can’t wait!
Just dug up an old DBS Winner from my backyard today!
I don’t know why I didn’t think of “pimping my ride” earlier. But I was thinking about this ride, and wishing someone would magically donate a 10 speed to me. All of a sudden it hit me!
I’ve got some “old p.o.s.” in my backyard. It’s been sitting on the side yard for the past 10 years getting absolutely no love.
Spent about $100 on parts at the bike shop
(Tires/Tubes/Brakes/Bar Tape/ Chain)
Then used about $10 on paint at home depot!
I just got back from my bikes first test ride (At 12:15AM) and can’t wait to finish and paint it tomorrow!
Woohoo! I haven’t been this excited about anything in quite some time. I feel like a little kid again. Thank you Bike Party!
See you all soon!
