The cops were alright - just a few warnings here and there to not cross red lights. It was kind of unnessecery, since we passed through businesses mostly closed on Friday.

Kinda wish there was a route taking us to the heart of San Jose again, but I loved the ride to the airport (and I loved In-n-Out more).

To me, it seemed like the cops were looking for opportunities to bust riders, but aside from the few idiots running red lights, we didn't give them any chance to. Thanks everyone for proving to those cops that we can be responsible and still have a great time.

San Jose PD has a less intrusive style if ride which I prefer. I don't mind going through other cities but it seems Santa Clara and SUnnyvale PD freak out way too much when the ride starts in their cities. Conversation with family member of Sunnyvale PD reveals that they actually look forward to ticketing riders and strong presence to persuade the ride in their city.

I agree with Ian and Alex. They may even add some 'clout' to the ride in the eyes of motorists. During the Olympic ride last July we stopped at the corner of Evelyn and Murphy to get some video. I turned on the camera on and set it on a post. Soon I realized many riders were missing the turn so I played bird announcing the turn from the island in the street. Four S'vale cops on motorcycles parked on the sidewalk behind my friend. After 30to45 minutes I went back to the corner. I asked the cops if Bike Party had ever been a problem. The supervisor said in the eight Bike Partys he worked they had NEVER been a problem in Sunnyvale. That made me feel good for Bike Party.

I though the police were awesome. They managed to walk the line between having a presence and Being a police state. I didn't see any abuses of police power at all and I thank them for being there.

I thought the police presence was a service to SJBP. The added structure minimized the reckless and the rowdy.
