Why must you guys be soo loud when riding through residential streets especially at 11:30pm. You give the bike party a bad name, please fix this ASAP…

Alecia, While we do appologize for the loudness of the BP , we get very few complaints. There are guidlines that are placed but its hard to control 4000+ riders. The route is changed everymonth so to not disrupt the same areas. We receive more support than complaints from the people who come out and cheer us on as we pass there homes.

Loved my first ride with you guys! The support we got from fellow riders and the people watching us go by was awesome. Thank you for the opportunity.

WOW! That was a heck of a way to say adios to Summer of 2012 and usher in Fall, that started early this morning.
It was a huge turnout for perhaps our longest route this year. This was also a slow moving Bike Party which means, folks were having so much fun on this ride, that they were making great efforts to enjoy the moment and to extend this last day of summer in grand style.
We can all agree, that it wasn’t a perfect and best behaved Bike Party, but; we remain a work-in-progress. As we continue to have fun and remain a cohesive bunch, Bike Party will stay strong and get better.
Let’s keep the safety, the peace and the lifelong love of all things bicycle in over-flow.
Bike Party forever!

I’m with Alecia! The riders woke us up out of a dead sleep around midnight with their loud music and yelling. Same thing happened a few months ago. Both times just as we started to go back to sleep they came back by as loud as the first pass by. I think the reason you don’t get more complaints is because people don’t know who you are or who to complain to.

(I think Jerry and Alecia might want to remember they live in a city, not a rural village.)
I haven’t been out for most of a ride in a long time, and last night it was clear that Bike Party’s still got it – cheerful, festive, kind, compassionate, sustainable urban evening deliciousness in the best way. I don’t want to honor any more fallen friends, but I felt we sent Charles off in good form and several of his ultima friends rode BP for the first time. Great work, Bike Parties – you remain the best Friday night around!

That was my first ride and I had an AMAZING time!!! Thank you everyone! What a great community!!!! Sorry to the people who have a problem with noise…but I think it’s sad that you think your Friday night sleep is more important than an amazing experience for 100′s (including the adorable kids who were cheering us on). Hi,
That Bike Ride looked awesome. Saw you at the meetup at the Plant. Saw all the bikes coming down Tully Road. Saw more and more and more bikes going down the Road from Senter Road to Tully Road.
It was really cool!
Your 44 or 45-year-old fan, and husband–50 somethin’ and kids and friends. (We don’t keep track past 25).

I’m cutting Jerry and Alecia some slack. We don’t know what other noise or sleep problems they already face. Sorry for waking you up folks.
Roll past conflict. Be nice. Respect diversity.

This too was my first bike party- and it was hilariousss! I carried a little bit of tools with me to help people out and my little tool box of monkey wrench, zip ties, allen wrenches, and tire patches came in handy! I stopped and helped about 7 people.. made new friends and enjoyed the night! I’d like to volunteer w/you guys on one of these rides!

Marco, last night you displayed the kind of spirit that will make you an outstanding SJ Bike Party volunteer. You got off to a blazing start last night and have already made a big splash into the Bike Party Community.
The Bike Party Community welcomes you and all volunteers with open arms. We can’t have enough volunteers, so Bike Party welcomes all who wish to contribute to the effort.
You just need to show up at the monthly volunteer mixer.
Thanks for stepping up last night to aid your fellow bicyclists.

Great but a loooong ride? After we came back to the starting point in SC we say all the police and ambulance. Does anyone know if the person was ok? That’s the scariest part of riding.

A young male got clipped by a southbound car on El Camino Real. He had crossed the island from the northbound lane to take a short cut to the end point. He did not have any lights on and was not visible to the driver. Pretty scary, I was in the parking lot and all I heard was the loud THUMP. A friend and I ran out with several others at the scene to stop traffic. He was shaken up,bruised and scrapped up but will survive. The driver of the car pulled over and cooperated with the police on scene.

He did have lights on….actually his back flasher was still flashing and stuck in the headlight of the car that hit him. The rider is still in the hospital and had surgery earlier this week.

@ biker chick & MVRobb, yes the biker that was hit will survive he has a broken pelvis, I didn’t what happened, but I do have to disagree with MVRobb he did have lights because his back light was stuck in the cars fender and as for the driver he was arrested for DUI!

Oh.. why thank you! i’ve been stuck on the side of the road before and it’s not something i’d wish upon anyone so this is why im always willing to help. I guess it’s my own quiet way of telling the world one person at a time that there’s still people out there like me, & like us:)

Special thanks to all the police departments; Santa Clara, San Jose and Campbell. Great job guys! You impressed us all by adopting the right approach that did not take anything away from the enjoyment of the Bike Party experience.

Never really have an issue with police which escort us, but Campbell PD must not have anything better to do than ticket and kick all the vendors out of the City Limits for not having the right permits. Thats why the last regroup didnt have them. Come on Campbell PD with all the crime going on this is what you do on a Friday night.

Had a blast at Bike Party Friday night! My first ride will now be a monthly event for me. I though the distance was perfect. The only thing I didn’t care for was the stops (regroups) were waaay too long. After about 15-20 minutes I was itching to ride again. The last regroup I just kept riding back to Sunnyvale as that was an unnecessary stop. I loved going through San Jose as the PD did not seem as overbearing as Santa Clara and Campbell.

@Jenny, I totally agree. This was my first bike party and 15-20 minutes would have been much better. I tried to hang out and be social, but it seemed like we were at the Plant forever and finally I just took off with a small group, which was not nearly as fun as the first two legs, where I was in a big pack of bikes riding together.

LOST AND FOUND: Did anyone ditch their girls bike on Tully rd because of a flat? we picked it up and have it here at the shop on Tully rd (San Jose Bicycles), send us a message or stop by and give your decription to pick it up…
Gary

The reason the regroups are so long is the fact that we wait for all the riders to make it to the regroups before we leave. You are more than welcome to leave early if you want. But the ride was spread out for a long distance hence the long wait.

I love seeing so many warm comments above. It was a great evening for me to.
I saw one guy get a ticket. He was the last guy through an intersection after the light had changed. He wasn’t the only one crossing against the light, just the worst offender that time. If the other tickets I saw being written were as fairly judged we have nothing to complain about. Ride legal and they leave you alone, or at least that’s the way it seems to me.
This month the theme was more of a minority participation thing than it sometimes is. However, it’s a playful minority, so the pictures came out great. See the best of what I saw at:

Great Bike Party this month gang. and the 1st regroup was such a great place to regroup. so surreal with the planes overhead and such. My whole take on getting ticketed is if your bad riding stands out of 2150 riders than so be it. Even with all the police presence I wasn’t worried about being ticketed. I never did see the Ghostbike. I did cut out right after the 2nd regroup to catch lightrail south. where is this Ghostbike located so I can pay my respects next time I am pedaling in town. I know of the Ghostbike near Stevens Creek Reservoir.

Great work Tian! There is no doubt that you are SJ Bike Party’s leading photo journalist. Your attached presentation is proof. The brief report on the accident is quite eloquent with your explanation of the various accounts of the incident combined with the few photos of the accident scene.
Thanks for all your great work. I guess we can never close the books on Bike Party without your monthly photo essay.:-)

It was my birthday celebration and first Bike Party for our group of 5. We had a great time and everyone wants to ride again. We only did a portion of the ride. We dressed up but were surprised how few did and that we found no time warp dance or rocky horror music. We’ll have to figure out how to bring our own theme music next time. For the most part, people were well behaved and shared the road. Thanks SJ Bike Party for a good time.
