freakhazoid,
Sorry you missed out! You missed the route too. It was posted under Route Information. You need to click on “read more” to see it. Next month check the website 24 hours before the ride and the route should be posted.
I counted 1639 bike partiers @ Piedmont & Trafalgar.
.
First time counting, learned a lot, may be off, what a blast!
It forced me to stay planted and watch the WHOLE parade, every single one of you.
.
And after that long uphill, when that light changed and you all took off down Piedmont….
Man you guys were FLYING by, thick.
My thumb just couldn’t click that fast,
next time I’m at a corner.
.
Thanks to ALL the volunteers WHO made this happen.
Very well planned.
What a total blast.
.
And to that lone, final, cyclist.
Who passed so long after everyone else.
You inspire and encourage, giving it all.
I hope you see that. Thank you!
It was a great ride. The birds/volunteers did a great job. I saw volunteers at every turn as well as one circling the crowd looking for garbage. Bike Party has really evolved a lot to become the largest volunteer based community event in the bay area. Note: Sunday Street in San Francisco is big but also has a lot of City support and is focused on re-development NOT fun – Bike Party is about fun on a large scale.
On the topic of fun . . .
I did see a few accidents but they all involved kids (or adults pretending to be kids) on trick fixed wheel bikes. Bike Party is about fun however doing stunts right in the middle of a moving crowd is a bit risky. I’d hope the performers either perfect their skill before demo’ing or make sure there’s no one directly behind them.
I’d like to send a big thank you to both the Milpitas Police and the VTA safety officers who helped make sure intersections and light rail crossings were safe for bikes, cars and trains!
Yesterday was one hell of a bike party. Not sure how many saw it. But the Capitol and hostetter intersection was full of bicycles on one direction, and a mob of motorcyclists traveling north on Capitol. That was a sight to see
Lastnights ride was great. First time police where being cool. I think the distance between the 1st and 2nd regoup where a bit close but still one of the best rides in along time. Props to the birds. I think people are starting to obey the rules and letting the cars go and stopping at the red lights. Cool Look forward to nex months ride.
I had fun last night…what a great night!!! I did see some horrible behavior from some young ladies. LADIES WE DO NOT YELL AT CARS PASSING OR FLIP PEOPLE OFF we share the road please be respectful NEXT BP JUST STAY HOME!!!
That was a well designed route.
The final stretch that led back to San Jose was real nice.
It was such a blast to hang with a swift moving peloton for that final home-stretch.
I was impressed by the ladies in that group who pushed a “serious pace” all the way to he end. I should confess that — that rapid pace — tested the limit of my endurance. What a awesome workout! No wonder I slept like a log.:)
Last night’s crowd was a happy and pleasant fun bunch. SJBP seems to be finally making great progress in reducing the number of “jerk element”. There are still a few silly riders among us, however; last night, I got the impression, that because of their reduced numbers, they appeared out of place among a relatively well behaved crowd.
In fact, I saw one lady shout down a red light runner; telling him, to respect the ride, or stay away from Bike Party until he learns to follow the simple rules. And she wasn’t even a Bird!
Let’s keep moving in a positive direction SJ Bike Party.
Keep on being responsible, and please, PLEASE keep on owning the ride. We’ve got a beautiful thing going with SJ Bike Party!
On the decent down Yosemite there was a motorcycle cop at the stop sign with his lights flashing, making sure people stopped. When we stopped a few bikers blew around us. The cop blew his siren and one of the stop sign blowers yelled f**k you at the cop. All I thought was go home punks. At the next light we stopped for the red. When it turned green the motorcycle cop on the corner yelled “Bike Party”! My daughter and I were amazed! That’s what Bike Party is about. Can’t wait for next month!
i was also there when that A.H. yelled at the cop. i felt really bad for him as well as being embarrassed for the bike party. it was really uncalled for. i hope the police read our commets, letting them know we are glad the majority of riders suppport them.
To the young ladies also from S.J on there first ever Bike party, You all stopped at the stop sign with the motorcycle cops on the left; You ladies ROCK!!!!!! Thanks for stopping. Hope you make it to many more Bike Party’s
It was our first bike party and it was a BLAST! We are totally hooked. I wanted to send a huge shout out to you all for being so courteous. We had our baby in a cart and everyone around us was super respectful and careful around him. Thank you for showing us a great time!!
The vibe at this bike party seemed off. I didn’t get that we were there to have fun. People were rarely staying to the right and I even saw some fights with cars. This is not what bike party is about. I hope this isn’t what it is going to turn into. If these “punk kids” keep it up, bike party won’t happen.
