hey everyone..
i’m glad you’re all having a great time, however, there is a lot of yelling and screaming going on outside of my house in addtion to very loud music. circling my block i live on park ave. please be courteous to the neighborhoods you ride through.
Sorry about the noise level-good news is shouldn’t happen again anytime soon since the routes are changed monthly. I pull a music trailer and try to remember to turn it down after 10pm in residential areas. To everyone else-not sure why your all giving her a hard time-she wasn’t rude or asking for much. We all know they’re can be some real rude people on the ride as well as outside of the ride and why Bike Party is getting so much bad publicity-on top of that-these types of responses do not help.
lost my LG flip phone on the ride some where between Lundy and the second regroup. If you found it call Hubby phone number. Great nice!! I really liked the first band at first regroup.
Had a great time, no issues from what I seen., but I was wondering what happento all the birdies??? WAs it because the group wanted the theme named changed? Just asking herd their was a riff about that. To all the people that were out supporting sjbp big ups to you all and to the ones that a little noise once in a while. Wow do be so uptight. If you don’t like noise move out of the third larges city then,,
Hey Mikel, the BIRD presence was out in full force at last night’s Bike Party!
I guess for some strange reason, many of my BIRD brethren — including me — weren’t sporting our BIRD patches.
But, we were out there on “safety patrol” making sure folks didn’t get too crazy to become potential casualties of their own mis-behavior.
I’ve got to admit that — from my perspective — I found last night’s crowd a lot more respectful, and more responsive to BIRD suggestions.
That bodes well at the start of this busy SJ Bike Party season ’cause it’s so much nicer when BIRDS can get all bicyclists safely through the route.
Not to be rude, but to kay that’s is true with mikel said , if it’s to loud don’t move to the city lol.. beside you should chill out it was like 5 or ten minutes of passing by .. it’s not like it is an eveyday thing so yea.
I agree with mikel about kay .. i’m not trying to be rude but if you don’t like the noise move out of the city.. we did not make that much noise , besides it was like five to ten minutea of passing by so deal with it lol.. anyways it’s a weekend so we had enough respect to nit do it hella late..
Kay, what is your street address on PARK? this way the next time we pass we’ll be sure to keep it down on our passing. If you don’t supply us with your address how are we supposed to know then, either that or I hear the country living is still nice and quiet.
Best Ride for me so far! I loved the route. Lots of good stuff to see. I’m curious how many people turned out. Is there any count? Is that even possible?
As always, I was amazed by the effort everyone made. Beautiful bikes, fun costumes, but I think the best effort goes to the guy who was playing bagpipes as he rode.
My family and I had a blast. It was fun, but I hope we spread the word to follow the rules below. I am fearful if the rules aren’t followed the city could shut this fun community event down. I saw too many people not listening to others telling them the following:
1) Move to the right most lanes to let cars go by
2) Use hand signals when cars are around
3) Stop at the red lights, don’t run them
4) Lower stereos post 10pm in neighborhoods.
Other than that it was a great ride as usual. We hope to do more.
Feel free to share a write up I did on Bike Party overall with friends:
Great ride in a long time. My nephew pulls a music trailer and he did turn it down after the 2nd regroup. Once again the route is changed every month so we dont try to incovienence the residents. I agree that there seemed to be a lack of birds directing us. we were lost downtown going all over the place with one person carring directions and trying to lead a group of about a hundred. To the organizers Maybe you should post a arrow at the signals where we should turn if there is a lack of birds. Much respect and thanks to the BIRDS.
LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT MONTHS
Good points Gil. That was a great route with a very spirited Bike Party crowd. The weather was absolutely perfect for bike ride.
The part of the route through SJSU campus, leading to the second regroup at the Arena prkg. lot was difficult for some bicyclists.
A few pelotons made wrong turns and, it seems like you were caught in one of those.
Please print directions next time.
Remember SJ Bike Party is always recruiting BIRD volunteers and this is a time for all interested folks to join Bike Party’s “elite group of volunteers”.
This was one of the larger turnouts on record for an April Bike Party.
Bike Party gets larger every year, so the number of volunteers need to increase proportionately.
Have no fear folks, and don’t be shy; volunteer for BIRD training and you will be welcome with open arms!
There was no one at 7th street and the rest of us went all the way down Santa Clara to the Shark Tank. I was using a Garmin Edge 800… kind of sucks… will print out instructions from now on..
Great ride, The end was a bit messed up, following some people never turned on 4th to head back to SJSU or what ever street was supposed to be the turn. A bunch of people ended up on 10th, which was ok, as it took them back to ICE. I agree with the need for more food trucks on these huge turn out rides. The band was awesome. Also Hot Dog Guy in the parking lot of the 1st regroup, although all the vendors should bring more single dollar bills… Tried to give me $4.00 in quarters…
The Hot Dog Guy at stop 1, was hating! He YELLED at everyone to move their bikes from leaning against his truck, all pissed off. Riders generally said: “You are parked in the middle of bike party, what do you expect?” then moved their bikes.
HDG: You are making money off of kids buying overpriced dogs, don’t get mad when your customers need to find parking.
Riders: Spend your cash at places who appreciate your business (like ALL of the other SJBP vendors)
We need more food trucks. There were only two food trucks at both stops and one of the food trucks seemed to only have fruit.
Last year the rides seem to have a about 5 food trucks at each rest stop. My friends and ended up waiting 45 minutes for burritos.
All the food trucks where at the Willow Glen Food Truck meet or the one at Mt Pleaseant High. It takes place every Friday on Curtner and Hwy 87. One truck should mis it once a month and com over to the Bike party. They would do a killin in sales.
It was great to see folks out in force once again. I think a lot of people had been waiting for decent weather…and it was such a nice night: no jackets needed! Many people were chill and riding responsibly and not being punks (maybe it was the alternate 4/20 theme?)
Nice ‘tight’ route around downtown. I really enjoyed coming up Santa Clara- it brought back Cruising memories of warm Friday nights!
It was great to be out again after months of rain or other commitments. Did anyone try to count riders?
I felt sorry for the bands at the first regroup. I had to get within a few feet of the stage to hear them, because the sound trailers drowned them out across most of the venue. And the second band didn’t get started until most folks had left.
We really enjoyed this ride. We thought it went pretty well, especially with the huge number of people. Route directions posted the day before are really useful, thanks. We typically start heading home after the 2nd or 3rd stop because I get annoyed and want to avoid crashing into the reckless drunk kids that cut people off and skid to a stop. Overall great rides.
SJ Bike Party needs a tracker! I was part of the SC feeder that was meeting you mid ride and didn’t end up meeting up because at 9:30pm you were still at mile 4. It would be great to have a tracker, or someone post to FB what mile you are at. After waiting a really long time our group decided to head back home
Wow, bummer.
So you knew:
you were meeting a large group ride,
when they left,
where they left from,
what route they were taking,
where they were stopping,
that the first regroup had special entertainment that might make it go long.
And yet your feeder group decided to ‘wait a really long time’ instead of deciding to either ride ahead or backtrack in an attempt to find the main group?
Really?!
I’m not sure a tracker would’ve helped your SC feeder group…
But you should bring it up at the next volunteer mixer, sounds like a good idea.
I actually didn’t know the first regroup had special entertainment which would explain a delay. We decided to wait because there were young kids in the group and really trekking out this time to South San Jose wasn’t a good option but wanted to pick it up for part of the way. Next time I will be sure to start from the begining if its close. We were far from this start, but wanted to participate at least for a bit. Wasn’t familiar with the food trucks, entertainment, so that would explain a lot. I still think a tracker would be cool. Or someone updating in real time during rides!

Just to be clear, we weren’t circling. We were riding passed. There may have been 1000 or more people going by which is why it seemed so continuous.
