Not enough lights. I nearly collided with many people who were in complete darkness and clipped a guy swerving back and forth without anything at all. Of all the rides I’ve been through, this was the most disappointing but I had fun nonetheless. A big thank you to all the birds who helped out there (especially the guy who directed traffic with the red baton!).
Jimmy I think the question was about Christmas lights. Thanks for your comment anyway. So I know Jimmy wasn’t the only one on the ride last night, where are all the comments? I know I had a great time last night, but I always do. Oh and kudos to the route guy for finding us lights on the East Side. Yes, Virginia there are Christmas lights on the East Side!
Agree there were some riders without lights… just stayed away from them. We need to keep that cheap light connection that Tim had going on.
Then there was this one house on the route that was so lit up, when the occupant threw the switch on, nearly knocked me off my bike! Another cool thing was ALL the riders picked up trash… not just the Ravens.
fun ride, very cold! I like the foot hill streets that gradually go up the mountains, those are fun, crazy guy in minivan was messed up, check my site for more words and pics! BIKE PARTY!
East side San Jose has some crazy drivers!! Just ruthless! Was terrified when lots of cars were driving by. Cool concept, we were decked out in lights and pajamas. However, our big group got lead the wrong way 3x and it was extremely frustrating. If there are going to be so many turns, we need more volunteers to lead the way. I can’t always keep my map in-hand when it’s dark out! Felt like this one was WAY less organized. I do appreciate the theme and the (attempted) route though.
The lights were cool, so cool that I am going to re-trace some of the route by car and show others. I am going to agree with Makenzi on his comment(s). Fun ride, and really enjoyed the foothills. Thought for sure I was going to witness a red-light running bicyclist (so many of them) get run over in multiple intersections. suprised it DIDN’T happen. Also, I guess I got to the 1st re-group too early as I ended up at the Sears end of the mall. found the real re-group spot eventually. looking forward to the next one as always.
Sooooo much fun! I had to slide my bike to avoid being hit head on by a car but that is just part of riding. The actual ride was a lot of fun, can’t wait for next party!

In that case, they were lovely! Haha. The ride overall was a bit too cold so excuse me for bailing after the second rest stop.

I had a GREAT ride!
The chalk (or whatever) arrows at the intersections were an awesome addition!

Had a good time. As always, I wish more people dressed to the theme (although I do know the cold temps had a lot to do with it this time). Gotta say, the pink bunny footie PJs kept me pretty toasty. Took some video which I just posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALvha7HddWM&context=C353fa5dADOEgsToPDskJpmrF2Lb_RI_7TDSKIEOyO
