Happy 4th Anniversary SJBP!!!!
As with many of our Anniversary rides we will be doing something special.
TELL YOUR FRIENDS. Dress up. Come out & ride with us.
Details in the posting
Theme: The Rapture
This ride marks our 4th year riding together. Coincidentally, it also marks the date Harold Camping has predicted the world will end. I, for one, can’t think of a better way to end the world than with a bike ride, so please join us and watch for fire falling from the sky.
-Disclaimer: On the off chance that the world doesn’t end during our ride, please dress up in theme as angels or demons so he can save face.
FEATURING 4 starts in various outlying neighborhoods of the South Bay which will all start at the same time.
After a couple of miles we will merge into one giant ride. Be safe, legal, and courteous (see How We Ride!). We share the road with other traffic. Helping cars move through smoothly makes the ride more enjoyable for everyone. Do your part to encourage good behavior! Also, please remember to turn down the volume when riding through residential areas late at night.
Volunteer:
BIRDs
BIRDs are our wonderful volunteers that attempt to keep everyone on our rides safe. Please be respectful of their directions and thank them for all of the effort they put into the ride.
Ravens
Ravens are the elite group of BIRDs that make sure we leave no trace behind by cleaning up after the party at regroups. They are essential to keeping the party going. If you see any of them with a trashbag collecting your trash, please thank them and if you are so inclined please join them! They are a really cool bunch. Please bring trash bags and help us leave no trace.
How We Ride:
If you follow these eight rules, Bike Party will be safe and a positive place for riders, drivers, pedestrians, and the community.
1. Stay in the Right Lane – NEVER ride the sidewalk. NEVER ride against oncoming traffic 2. Leave Nothing Behind - Don’t trash San Jose 3. Stop at Red Lights 4. Ride Straight, Ride Predictability - Slower Riders should stay to the right 5. Roll Past Conflict 6. Leave No One Behind 7. Ride Sober! It’s illegal and dangerous to ride a bicycle inebriated 8. Communicate to Fellow Riders! (We need your help in encouraging everyone to follow the rules!)Where to be:
Wheels hit the Street at 8:00 so be there early for the pre party …
There will be 4 starts/routes this month they are as follows.:
- Campbell Community Center – Route , Printable map
- Winchester 21 Theaters (across from Santana Row) - Route , Printable map
- Old Century Berryessa 10 (off of Capitol) - Route , Printable map
- Eastridge Shopping Center (near Sears) - Route , Printable map
Parking @ the Starts
Please Park well clear of any local businesses near the start of the route.

This seems weird. What’s so terribly different?
Last year we had 122 comments on the ride announcement

The excitement was palpable.
I just don’t understand.

WoW! Gorgeous Ride Art
Really captured the theme beautifully.
Love the trajectory lines as, those who are being raptured out of this physical world,
suddenly feeling pulled from their current repose and drawn up into the great white cloud.
Illuminated from within as if by innumerable bike headlights.
It is as if these cyclist are being called up with the sound of a trumpet, then a shout! “BIIIKE PARTAAAAAYYY!!”

Our very affordable bike lights are back! As a fund-raiser to help equip our valiant BIRDS, we’ll be selling those simple, but effective, front/rear led lights (they come in pairs) for only $7.00! We’ll also have batteries available for sale. Look for Sulaimon’s T-Shirt Table at the Regroups (he’s selling the lights and batteries for us while taking none of the profit, so bring some extra dough to buy one of his awesome Bike Party T-shirts while you’re at it). Help out our BIRDS, ride safer, and get a great deal all at the same time.

Yup W, Happy Bday SJBP!
The multistarts are great anniversary traditions and allow more riders to start in their neigborhoods and share the core of the ride before going back to your own neighborhoods. Fun times tonight. Looking forward to the Berryessa start and everyone meeting up.

The countdown is on for SJ Bike Party’s 4th Anniversary Ride marking the end of daylight saving time(DST) for 2011.
It is still the music, the great variety of food, the Fun bicycling crowd, the awesome vibe from the coolest folks in the Bay Area, that makes SJ Bike Party, the greatest PARTY on wheels in America today.
Let’s do it for the SJBP 4th Anniversary Ride.
The weather is “absolutely, bicycling-fabulous” for this most “socially relevant theme: Rapture Ride”.
What a bonanza my bicycling brethren, all YOU need is to get on your bicycle and let “YOUR creative mood express itself”.
This is no time for “cave-dwelling”; plus, it’s “too warm, and way too early for hibernating”!
I have left YOUS’ no wiggle room for excuses; so, what are you gonna do about it, eh.
Come on down my bicycling brethren.
Grab you bicycle and let’s get the Bike Party hopping from start to finish!
Bike Party forever!!!!!

Webster defines rapture as: “1. The state of being rapt or transported; ecstatic joy; ecstasy. 2. An expression of excessive delight.”
Well alright now.
