Hello,
I just wanted to share a cool story that involves one of your team members:
I was riding the Los Gatos Creek Trail today. I started from downtown SJ and stopped at the waterfall/bridge along 17; sat there for a bit, then decided I’d turn around there and go back home.
I was wearing my new hiking boots so I figured I’d break them in a little and walk a mile before pedaling. So I’m walking back towards Campbell with my bike at my side. Bikers pass me, I pass a couple arguing, runners pass me, then I hear, “Coming up behind you.” This is pretty common, so I just nod. Then the dude rolls up to the side me and asks if everything’s ok. “Just checking if you have a flat or anything… Everything’s good?”, he asks. What a nice guy! “Oh yeah, everything’s cool. I’m just walking for a bit,” I say. Then he wishes me a good day and rides on. As he was riding away, I noticed he had a emblem on the back of his gear that said “BIRD”. So I looked up “san jose bicycle bird” and it brought me to you guys.
That was so cool. I think it’s great that even when “off duty” your team cares about helping and building community. Dude was a white guy with dreads so give him a big THANKS for me. And give him a raise, or whatever you guys do. hahaha
Keep up the good work, friends. I’ll have to come ride with you guys sometime.
Thanks, again.

That must have been John B., one of our most enthusiastic riders and as you say, one hell of a nice guy. Join us for a ride. You’ll “dig it the most”!!! Helmets not required.

Well let’s see we have lots of nice guys and we have lots of white guys, but only one that I know of with dreads. Gotta be John! This sounds just like him too! Oh and Jack thanks for sharing the feel good story! Come out some time and join us after your boots are broken in.

I just read Jacks story. I’ve only had the opportunity to ride twice, being that I live 4hrs away. On each of my rides i have met the nicest people from all around Cali. The SJBP is what “Unity” is all about. The Birds have welcomed us “Fluffy Old Timers” lol! Making sure we didn’t get lost or fall too far behind. Im a country girl born n raised and in the process of relocating to San Jose. I have to admit that the SJBP is one of the best things I have to look forward to. Take some time and join us for a ride. Talk about a natural high, this ride is so addicting.
