South SJ – “Last Call” for your test rides. We have the least amount of riders and volunteers coming from south SJ. We’d like to change that. How?
Join a test ride this Saturday evening starting at the Chynoweth VTA Light Rail under Hwy 85 & 87.

my husband and I are active unofficial birds and would love to continue participating. Not sure we can make the ride this evening, but can scope out the route during the week, if you provide instructions.

Hi Debra,
Typically they don’t provide the route until about 24 hours or less before the ride. On one of the recent test rides I finally found out why they do it that way.
I never would have believed just how much work goes in to preparing the route. It’s huge, and I’m sure I’ve only seen a little bit of the work that goes in to it. Evidently they regularly are refining the route right up until the time they post it. That’s right. If someone is testing the route on Wednesday and finds a problem area, they may still be making changes right up until Thursday.
Oh, and just so nobody thinks I’m holding out. I don’t have the route either.

Hi David. Thought you might be interested in this add. We talked about triples a few test rides ago. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/bik/2000839574.html

Actually, there is so much preparation involved that the route is locked down many days before the actual ride. There are varied reasons why the route is sent out the day before the ride, including creating a sense of excitement and building anticipation for the average rider and cutting down on hooliganism for some of our more spirited riders.
