yes, this is beautiful that we’re all stopped…
but occupying ALL lanes including the left turn lanes
is not exactly stellar behavior…
i’m hoping we can leave at least one lane open for
cars on ALL multi-lane roads…

Your critique is true ‘Testi’ but, the composition and message conveyed by this photo is so powerful and moving that I would purchase a poster of it — were it available — to decorate the bicycle room in my home.
Uber cool photograph.

too bad the police don’t post their aerial footage somewhere. i’d love to see how we look from above.

@Spliffer, yes it is a compelling photo!
We’ve made such huge strides since that pic that I’m hoping we can keep the ball moving forward.
(but with some steps backwards last month with more red light running, not keeping left lanes clear or going in opposing lanes, too many drunks and a nasty fight on homestead)
This is why the volunteer meetings are so good cuz everyone can figure out what we need and make it their ride too! And why we need so many more new volunteers to join our great BIRDs!
@ryan, we did have a police helicopter over our ride before, but I can’t remember which ride that was. lol

We should arrange for some aerial photography this summer, when the light’s better for the start and also the numbers. Perhaps we can arrange for a start location that has great overhead visibility for that ride. I’ll start looking into it.

@RapidRobert – that’s the kind of “hands on” attitude
that makes bp great. we can all find a way to bake in some
parking garages etc to go by… thx for joining the route
team and your great “visual maps” and other input
the last few mos!

there’s a great lot on santa clara just east of 87, about 5 stories tall. some friends of mine took some great photos of a protest from up there. this would be cool the next time we roll down santa clara toward the alameda.

Lloyd & Yoshi did a completely kick-ass route strategy discussion at the volunteer meeting last night! Everyone was energized, engaged, strategizing excitedly about our work for next month. Let’s keep pushing to get new volunteers out to these meetings!
Thanks, everyone – especially Jackie for the apples and Katie for bringing pizza, Kerry and Brian for helping to clean up, and Angel and Sulaiman for the poorly-notified use of Sophisto Society’s space! You all rock!
