Hi Bike Party Riders,
We are asking all of our riders to complete a survey.
Why are we asking you to do this?
1. Good organizations measure themselves to make sure they are meeting their goals. You can read about our mission here.
2. We can use this data as evidence for various city and local governments to prove that we are good for the community. We want to take pro-active measures to prevent anyone from trying to shut us down.
In case anyone is curious, Bike Party organizations are in NO WAY seeking to make a profit off of the ride. If anything, we might look into seeking a nonprofit type of status in the future.
Our goal is to get 1000 responses. Take 5 minutes to complete survey, its only 7 questions.

@Wuss912, thanks for teeing this up so nicely for me!! I think this might explain how we do things and why we do the things we do. This is just MY version, it’s not official policy, etc. LOL
RE:”rides secret … stopped the bad element from showing up?”
There are many fewer drunks and DBs than ever. But there were more last time than the two previous rides. But we did make it more convenient and we had 20-25% more riders than our previous high in August.
Is keeping the specific ride route secret a large part of it? I think so. Has publicly calling out idiotic and illegal behavior helping? I think so.
Transparent?
Are there monthly meetings open to anyone?
Are test rides open to anyone?
Is everyone invited to participate or volunteer?
Do we tell you on the web exactly what is expected and not expected/not welcome?
Do we show you where the $$ is going?
The answer to all is a resounding yes.
So if anyone doesn’t know the route?
In my humble opinion, who the heck cares?
If someone shows up at your party do you want to hear a lot of whining after countless hours have been put in?
Test rides are advertised here, on Facebook and repeated messaging sent out. ALL of the routes have changed after each and every test ride. Specific rider feedback always has been strongly considered even if not fully integrated somehow.
RE: “rides secret” & effect on our # of riders
It probably builds suspense and is helping boost the numbers.
Thanks again for teeing this up so nicely for me.
For transparency, my name is scott and I’m one of the active volunteers here. One of the “uber birds” LOL We need more!

Is “wuss912″ transparent?
No, it’s not, but that’s ok.
But I do welcome ALL riders to come out and join us all at test rides where you get to meet great riders and learn how we can ALL make it OUR ride.

I think it’s pretty cool. Just imagine, as we draw closer and closer to the third friday of each month, waiting for the time for the route to be posted, a couple thousand people are all thinking about and anticipating the same thing. I think’s pretty incredible to know that while I’m getting excited about it, countless others are, too.
Also, posting the route last minute lets us fine tune the thing all the way to the day before, making sure it’s reached a stage of perfection worthy to Bike Party. Plus, if we posted it earlier but needed to change it for whatever reason, then things could start to get confusing.
Plus, it’s got that subversive, secretive underground feel even more than it did before, right?

LOL… No i’m not transparent at all… However i’m not the one claiming to be
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Would you guys be open to giving a general start location for each ride when the theme is posted?
ie: aug would have been downtown ?
and sept would have been near great america…
of course i understand the s3krit of becomming a bird so you know ahead of time but i see theres a lot of other folks confused by this as well.

I love Bike Party…
It’s a fun way to get everyone together, and share our love of cycling, but I think you have created a monster. I loved the first rides when we had under a 1000 people. Now you have to go through this whole process of subversion to keep the bad elements way.
You might want to think about doing more specialty rides (like the scavenger hunt), and scale back on the huge group rides (I know I’ll get some flack for that). The hunt was a lot of fun, and the group was well behaved, because we had things to accomplish.
BIKE PARTYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!
