SF to SJ Human Powered RaceWho’s the fastest in the Bay Area?
Let’s find out with a race!

Where: San Francisco 4th & King Caltrain Station
When: Yeah, when?

This is a RACE. Slow riders dropped!

This is a race of human-powered vehicles from San Francisco to San Jose. It might just all be standard diamond-frame bicycles competing but we didn’t want to exclude anybody.

Any kind of bike or trike or tandem or whatever. Number of gears, riders, bicycle weight or design, we don’t care. And no route – go whatever route you want – the fastest way if you want to win!

Start at SF Caltrain at NOON – first one to B2 Coffee in San Jose WINS!

Registration Procedure: Go to San Francisco 4th & King Caltrain Station at NOON on the day of the race, whenever that is. I think we should wait for some sweet tail winds.

Registration Fee: $0

1st Place Prize: One Coffee at B2

There are rules but only two rules and really I shouldn’t have to even write them down because they’re so obvious but just to avoid any potential drama:

Rules:
1. Any number of riders, including one, must propel a vehicle of any design under THEIR OWN physical power from San Francisco 4th & King Caltrain Station to B2 Coffee in San Jose. No external source of propulsion (bus, train, boat, airplane, riding in or being pulled by a motor vehicle, etc) is allowed. Obviously it’s ok to use wind and gravity.
2. Making physical contact or the threat of physical contact (brake-checking, swerving in front of, etc.) with other riders or their vehicles is prohibited.

It would be really nice if riders could pretty please use a GPS-tracking smartphone app such as Strava or MapMyRide to document their ride time and route. Just so that the rest of us don’t have to take your word for it that you actually did it and didn’t hop on Caltrain somewhere. In other words, “Strava or it didn’t happen.” But still, not required.
